Rules and information regarding the halls:
- Most halls are within walking distance of the three city Victoria campuses.
- Residents are responsible for cleaning their own bedrooms, studios and flats, as well as cleaning up after themselves in communal spaces. Communal areas are maintained by contract cleaners.
- They allow calling cards for national, international and cell phone calls.
- All halls are smoke-free. In some cases, smoking is also not permitted in surrounding grounds.
- They provide alcohol-free and single-sex areas according to demand.
- Our halls have very limited or no parking facilities available.

have to pay connection charges - for power, phone, internet, cable or satellite
tv and buy or rent furniture and equipment.

Rentals
The
average room in a student flat as of February 2014 is $175. There are cheaper
places but they are likely to be a long way from campus or small, dark and
cold. Wellington is a very hilly city and most accommodation requires at least
a slight walk up or down hill to get to it.
Wellington
is also well known for its wind, mainly in winter. This can make the city very
cold and, as significant amount of accommodation is not fully insulated nor do
they have heat pumps, it is important to consider all these factors when
choosing.

or three bedroom accommodation suitable for a family in walking distance of
Kelburn campus is $450 - $550 per week.

If you
are already at Victoria, try telling everyone you know that you are looking for
a place. Landlords often prefer to let to someone referred by an existing
tenant rather than go through the hassle of viewings.
Noticeboards:
Check
out the noticeboards around university and in local shops, especially
supermarkets.
Newspapers:
The
Dominion Post lists rentals on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

You can use metlink to
check out public transport from the places you are looking at to your campus.
The bus routes that pass the Kelburn campus are 22, 23, 17, 18, 20 and 47.

In the South Island, we focus on places nearby Christchurch as it is near the University of Canterbury. Most students in Christchurch tend to live on campus rather than off campus as it is cheaper.
